Update Wednesday 18 January 2012
Vanilla Rum had been in good form at the back end of 2011 and deservedly got his head in front when winning the 1m1f handicap at Wolverhampton on the 6th January. The application of blinkers seems to have woken him up and he has been travelling really well in his races. This win, by an easy 6 lenghts, will have boosted his confidence no end and he seems a horse on good terms with himself at present. **Declared in the 1m1f handicap at Wolverhampton on Monday 20 February. Joe Fanning rides** **WON 7/2**
Illustrious Forest made all to win in impressive fashion on his debut for Derbyshire Racing when taking the 1m4f handicap at Wolverhampton on 30th December by 8 lenghts. He is a big, imposing individual that has taken time to mature into himself and the step up in trip suited him well. We will look for further opportunities on the AW over the next few weeks but he looks a dual purpose prospect in the making and jumps well at home. An exciting young horse.**Shares available - please see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Declared to run in the 1m4f handicap at Wolverhampton on Monday 6th February. Michael O'Connell rides. **WON 3/1**
Arizona John has been freshened up with a couple of months out of training and is really full of himself at present. He has recently been brought back in and should be on course to be ready to run by late March, probably kicking off on the AW.
Aegean Destiny followed up her debut hurdle win at Uttoxeter in November with and equally good effort in a mares novices hurdle at Hereford in December when 3rd to Tempest River. She has subsequently fallen at the first hurdle at Catterick when knuckling over on landing but thankfully came back OK and will have a short break now to recover.
Impeccability, our 2 year old home bred filly out of our own dam Impeccable Guest, is now out cantering most days and is coming on very nicely. She is unlikley to be an early sort so will be put away soon to mature with a view to run in the 2nd half of the 2012 flat season.
Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, are both fine and have around 3 months to go in their pregnancies to multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend. Both are due to foal during April 2012. **Shares available in our breeding programme - please see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**

Update Sunday 20 November 2011
**NEW HORSE - 4 year old gelding ILLUSTRIOUS FOREST - See OUR HORSES and AVAILABLE SHARES page for details**
Aegean Destiny made her eagerly awaited debut over hurdles at Uttoxeter on Saturday 12 November and delighted her owners by winning the Burton Union Novices Hurdle by a comfortable 6 lenghts under an excellent ride from Wayne Hutchinson. She had schooled impressively at home and having raced prominantly throughout the race jumping well, Wayne sent her on over 3 out to win with plenty in hand from the Jonjo O'Neill trained Washington Road. She loves cut in the ground and we will now look for a similar novice hurdle for her in the coming weeks. *Entered in the 2m1f novices hurdle at Hereford on Thursday 22 December* 3rd 7/1
Vanilla Rum ran a good 2nd to the lightly raced Arkaim at Wolverhampton in October and we shall keep him going on the Polytrack during the winter. He wore blinkers for the first time in this race and they seemed to help him concentrate, travelling well from a poor draw and finishing the race very well. Since this race he has had a few training niggles that have kept him off the track but he should be out again during the next few weeks. *Declared to run in the 1m2f handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday 16 December. Joe Fanning rides* 3rd 9/2
Arizona John is currently enjoying a break from racing to freshen him up and has been turned out in a paddock with his stable companion Saint Thomas. We shall probably bring him back in to race on the Polytrack in early 2012 but the plan is to go hurdling next year and as long as he takes to the jumping he could be a exciting recruit when racing on his favoured fast ground.
Impeccability, our yearling filly by Lucky Story out of our own dam Impeccable Guest, has started her ground work training with lunge reigns and a saddle and shall be backed for the first time next week. She has done everything asked of her very well and is a lovely relaxed filly to work with. Once fully broken she will be put away to develop over the winter with a view to running for Derbyshire Racing as a 2 year old during 2012.
Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, are both well and currently at around the mid point in their pregnancies to multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend. Both are due to foal during April 2012, which will be an exciting time for all involved!

Update Saturday 10 September 2011
Vanilla Rum has yet to show his best form for Derbyshire Racing but his run at Wolverhampton last time out was more promising and we think he is now ready for a step up in trip to 1m1f+. The Polytrack surface at Wolves certainly suits him well but we shall also be looking to run him on soft ground this Autumn, which we feel is what he needs on turf. Potentially he is now very well handicapped and fully 20lb lower than his last winning mark. 2nd at Wolverhampton at 10/1 Sat 8 Oct 11
Arizona John has enjoyed a break since early July to freshen him up but has not had too many opportunities in the Programme Book of late. He is ready to run given top of the ground conditions and we shall probably keep him going on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton this year too. He has done some schooling over hurdles during the Summer which will give us jumping options in the future and if he can travel as well over hurdles as he does on the flat he could be a exciting recruit. **5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Aegean Destiny deservedly won her first race for Derbyshire Racing at Newcastle on Monday 6th September when taking the 1m4f handicap at odds of 11/1. Given a great ride by Declan Cannon, Aegean Destiny took it up over 2f out and outstayed her rivals to record a comfortable success on her favoured soft ground. She will continue to be campaigned where there is give in the ground and will likely go novice hurdling later in the Autumn.
Shoot the Pot has had training problems this season and following an unpromising run at Nottingham in August we have reluctantly decided to retire him from racing. He has now been found a good home and shall be retrained as a hack and show horse.
Barton Vine has suffered with a back muscle problem this Summer but she is fine now and back in fast work. We plan to give her a racecourse gallop soon to bring her on and shall then target a suitable NH bumper race for her debut run. She is one to look forward too over the coming months. **2.5, 5% or 10% shares available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, are both thriving and in-foal to multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend. Both will have scans this month to check everything looks OK and their foals should be due during April 2012.
Impeccability, our recently named yearling filly by Lucky Story out of our own dam Impeccable Guest, continues to thrive and it will soon be brought in and prepared for being backed and ridden for the first time. She is a strong, well made filly with plenty of presence about her and hopefully she will be ready to run for Derbyshire Racing as a 2 year old during 2012.

Update Thursday 14 July 2011
Vanilla Rum has yet to encounter his ground conditions on turf this season and he has struggled to find his form of last year but his mark has consequently dropped and he is now rated 11lb lower than when we aquired him. We are confident that he will recapture his best form and currently think a step up in trip from 7f is required. An autumn campaign should suit him once there is juice in the ground when he could start to make the most of a lenient looking mark. *Declared to run at Wolverhampton on Thursday 25 August over 1m*. **2.5 and 5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**
Arizona John ran a good third to Oriental Cavalier at Doncaster in June when it seemed he would be well suited by a step up in trip to 1m6f. However he failed to quicken up off a steadily gallop that day and we will keep him at 1m4f for now. He ran well below par last week at Doncaster and we will now give him a mini break to freshen him up and also try a bit of schooling with him to see how he jumps. Aegean Destiny has struggled to produce her best form this season but like Vanilla Rum the handicapper is relenting and she has now dropped to a much more favourable mark. She did'nt appear to quite stay the 1m6f trip at Doncaster last month but a return to 1m4f suited her much better when a fair 5th last time out to Fossgate. She has also been schooled recently and did it well so we may have the option to go jumping in the Autumn. *Declared at Leicester on Wednesday 20 July - 2nd 7/1* **2.5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Shoot the Pot has not thrived this season and is currently taking suppliments to aid his digestion but is on the way back and in training. He has done some schooling this week and jumped well so that gives us further options for him once he is ready to race again.
Barton Vine has suffered with minor training niggles over the past 2 months but is back in faster work and should be ready for entries in NH bumper in late July or early August. **2.5, 5% or 10% shares available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, are both thriving and obviously in-foal - both are looking big and well! They will have precautionary scans in September before the Refuse to Bend stallion covering fee is due.
Lucky Story Yearling has grown tremendously this summer and he are very happy with her - she will be a big strong filly! We have now begun the process of choosing a name for her amounst owners and hopefully by the next web update it will have been finalised and approved by Weatherbys.

Update Monday 30 May 2011
Vanilla Rum is in good form at home and has been declared to run at Southwell on Tuesday 28 June. He ideally needs a bit of cut in the ground so Southwell may suit. He is a nice horse and will be well handicapped when he gets his ground conditions. Declared to run at Pontefract on Friday 15 July. Stephen Craine rides. **2.5 and 5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**
Arizona John has ran good races at York, Haydock and Doncaster recently and is entered in a 1m6f Class 4 handicap at Doncaster on Friday 24 June, his first attempt at 1m6f. Aegean Destiny has been running well this season without quite threatening to win but she has steadily dropped down the handicap and is looking on a reasonable mark now. She has been declared to run at Doncaster on Friday 1 July over 1m4f and Freddie Tylicki rides. **2.5 or 5% shares available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Shoot the Pot has had a few training problems of late but is on the way back and should be ready for entries in the 2nd half of June.
Barton Vine, our newly named mare by Grape Tree Road, has been working well and should be ready for entries in the first half of June. She will be aimed at NH bumper races before a novice hurdling campaign later in the season.**2.5, 5% or 10% shares available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, have both been covered by multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend and we are delighted to say that both have been scanned "in-foal". Both have now returned from Whitsbury Manor Stud and are turned out to enjoy their Summer in the paddocks at Barton Blount.
Lucky Story Yearling has continued to thrive and looks in rude health. It wont be too long now before she is broken in in preparation for being ridden - how time flies! She has developed very well this year and we couldnt be happier with her.

Update Sunday 24 April 2011
Vanilla Rum has been a little disappointing on his last two runs for us at Wolverhampton, never really getting into his races but running on well at the finish. Ideally we would have been running him on the turf by now this season but we have been frustrated by the lack of rain as ideally he needs a bit of cut. He should have more opportunities open to him during May and is a horse that could have improvement to come as he is still growing. **2.5 share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Arizona John ran very well on his seasonal debut at Kempton to be a close 5th to the improving Sweet Origin and should again pay his way this season. He again ran well in defeat at Beverley recently when 3rd to the popular veteran Granston and we are now eyeing up a Class 4 handicap at York's Dante meeting for his next run. Aegean Destiny made her seasonal debut at Beverley last week and ran well to be beaten 8 lenghts by course specialist Tribal Myth after getting unbalanced on the cambered turn into the straight. She will come on a fair bit for this run and is a filly that could improve this year. **2.5 and 5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Shoot the Pot ran disappointingly on his seasonal debut at Kempton in March, travelling well to the turn in but dropping out quickly in the straight. He is now being given a bit of time to fully come to himself before getting his next race entry. Our Grape Tree Road mare, who will be named shortly, was home bred at Barton Blount and is being leased from our trainer John Mackie. She has been in training a few months now and is being prepared to run in NH Bumpers this Spring and Summer. Her half sister All Three Fables won 2 races for us in 2008 and 2009 and this mare should give us plenty of fun over the next couple of seasons.**2.5, 5% or 10% shares available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest** Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, are currently at Whitsbury Manor Stud being covered by multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend, winner of the 2000 Guineas and Eclipse Stakes. All being well they will both return over the next week or two and be scanned in-foal. Refuse to Bend has done well at stud from a fairly limited books of mares and produced the 2010 Arc de Triomphe 3rd Sarafina, who could have won the race but for being badly hampered at a crucial stage.
Lucky Story Yearling is very well and has continued to blossom this Spring in the warm sunshine. We will be running a naming competition for her owners during May after which we can look forward to her progressing toward her being broken in and ridden during the Autumn. Exciting times ahead with her!

Update Saturday 26 February 2011
**LATEST : Shares are available in our new
un-raced 5 year old mare by Grape Tree Road out of a winning dam by
Hernando. In training and being prepared to run in NH Bumpers in the
Spring 2011. Please contact us for further details** Vanilla Rum ran a cracker on his debut for Derbyshire Racing in January, finishing a close 5th to Smalljohn. He has since ran 4th over the extended 1m at Wolves and we will probably now wait for the start of the flat season before he gets his next entry.
Arizona John is looking in good nick and may be ready for a run on the AW in March. Although we think there are more races to be won with him on the flat this year we are considering going Summer jumping if he takes to schooling. Another exciting season awaits with him.
Aegean Destiny has done well over the Winter and she should also be ready for a run in March on the AW. We will probably concentrate on early season flat races initially as she seems to go well with cut in the ground and with luck she will win races for us this season having gone close several times in 2010.
Shoot the Pot is another that should be ready to kick off his season in March and will likely take in a race on the AW before concentrating on the turf. We hope he will stay 1m4f on the flat which will then give us the option of going jumping at some point. He is a lovely mover that needs decent ground and a galloping track.
Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, will both be covered this Spring and we are currently considering sending both of them to the multiple Group 1 winning sire Refuse to Bend, winner of the 2000 Guineas and Eclipse Stakes. He should inject a bit of speed into the pedigrees of their foals as well as provide us with dual purpose options being by the great sire Sadlers Wells. **5 or 10% shares available in our breeding program - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**
Lucky Story Yearling is fine and developing well - we could'nt be more pleased with her at this stage. It will be very interesting to see how she comes on through the Spring and Summer months before being broken in towards the late Autumn in preparation to go into training in 2012. **5 or 10% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**

Update Tuesday 18 January 2011
Vanilla Rum seems in good order at home and should be ready to make his debut for Derbyshire Racing within the next two weeks. He will probably have a couple of runs on the AW prior to a turf campaign on the flat and his owners look set for an exciting season ahead.
Arizona John is now back in steady work and being prepared for the upcoming turf season. At some point in the season he may be popped over hurdles at home to see how he takes to jumping - with his ability he could make a classy hurdler on good ground.
Aegean Destiny was unlucky not to have won a race for us last season, running very creditably and placing on 7 occassions. She should put that right this season and we are really looking forward to seing her back on the racecourse. She is back in after a winter break and is a real credit to her owners.
Shoot the Pot has also had a winter break but is now back in work and should be ready to run in March. He seems to have filled out a bit during the winter which is good news and is a horse that should mature into himself as a 4 year old. He is the type that should be well suited by a galloping track where he can utilise his stride and is a lovely horse to be involved in.
Impeccable Guest and Sphere, our two broodmares, will both be covered this Spring and we are currently evaluating suitable sires that tick the right boxes for us. Both will probably go to sires that had their best form over 1m and that will inject a bit of speed into the pedigree of the foals. Both dams decend from good, middle distance families and we are delighted to have them with Derbyshire Racing.
Lucky Story Yearling is looking in great order and we couldnt be more pleased with her. She will be named in the Spring and left to mature at grass before being broken in during the Autumn. If she is forward enough the plan would be for her to make her debut for Derbyshire Racing as a two year old during 2012. Update Sunday 12 December 2010
Vanilla Rum is in good order and should be be ready to make his debut for Derbyshire Racing during January on the AW. He is a horse we have allowed a bit of time to come right but is a great prospect for us and his owners can expect an exciting 2011 to come with him.**Now fully sold**
Shoot the Pot, Arizona John and Aegean Destiny are all roughed off for a Winter break and will re-enter training during January. Below : Vanilla Rum (near side) with Sonic Anthem after work on Saturday 11 December 2010.

Update Friday 12 November 2010
Arizona John signed off his 2010 season at Wolverhampton tonight, finishing a creditable 4th under top weight. This was only his 2nd start on the Polytrack for us but he's has shown enough to suggest he is very effective on the surface and that will give us more options in 2011. He has enjoyed another great season, winning twice and running consistantly well all year. A real credit to all concerned and he will now enjoy a well earned break over the winter.
Aegean Destiny has been an extremely consistant and genuine filly, finishing 2nd and 4th three times in the 7 starts since we acquired her. That elusive win has just been beyond her to date but she is still developing physically and she should continue to progress next season. She is another that is enjoying a well earned winter break now.
Vanilla Rum looks in great shape and his work regime on the Barton Blount gallops is being increased in preparation for a debut run for Derbyshire Racing on the AW. We plan to give him a few runs on the Polytrack this winter and to have him fit and well to kick off the 2011 turf season. His form is rock solid and he could potentially be very well handicapped off 73 (turf) and 75 (AW) - an exciting prospect for us. **2.5% share available - see "Available Shares" page for details and "Contact Us" page to register an interest**
Shoot the Pot is working well and we are just waiting for suitable opportunities for him on the AW. 1m2f looks his trip at the moment although we expect him to get 1m4f next year as he is quite a big gelding that is still maturing into himself. A lovely prospect for us on turf in 2011and is the type that has the scope to go jumping in the future. **All shares now sold**
